Hazrat Jaabir (رضی اللہ عنہ) quotes that Hazrat Muhammad (ﷺ) said: The Muslim who plants a tree, and then the portion of it that is eaten that becomes charity for the person who planted the tree. And the portion that is tolen also becomes charity as well. Meaning that even upon this the owner gets rewards for charity. And the portion that is eaten by birds that is also charity. Meaning that whoever decreases the size (by taking away fruit etc) that becomes charity for him (the one who planted the tree). (Muslim)
